2014 Business Mavericks Panelist
I’ve lived and worked the majority of my life in the South Bay. I grew up in the South Bay and graduated from Palos Verdes High School.
My first job was running the bookstore at Marymount College, (Rancho Palos Verdes). From there I was a stylist at the “Beachhead” (Palos Verdes Estates), sales for Ace Aerospace Systems (Torrance) and secretary/legal assistant at Schimmenti, Mullin and Berberian, (El Segundo), before arriving at Herald Publications, Inc. in 1994, as Editor-in-Chief. At that time, Herald Publications, Inc., was known as the El Segundo Herald, (Est. 1911), El Segundo’s community newspaper, was the only newspaper being published by the corporation.
In 1999, the corporation acquired three more community newspapers the Inglewood News, Hawthorne Press Tribune and Lawndale News and changed the corporation’s name to Herald Publications, Inc. In 2005 we started the Manhattan Beach Sun community newspaper and in 2007 the Torrance Tribune community newspaper.
Community Service includes member and board member of El Segundo Chamber of Commerce, member of LAX Airport Chamber/Inglewood, Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, Founding Member of Friends of the Villa Riviera, a National Landmark in Long Beach, Board of Director of Villa Riviera HOA and Volunteer for Therapy Dogs International. I was awarded El Camino College’s “Distinguished Woman Award” in 2013. My personal passion is animal welfare.
